“See What You Can Do” Exercise Your Imagination

During the One Life @ ATime, six-week focus groups, Monisha Mitchell, LCSW, as a standout speaker whose extensive experience as a licensed clinical social worker—spanning 20 years and specializing in trauma, anxiety, and depression—brought invaluable insights to the table. Her presence was both inspiring and instrumental, particularly in encouraging to witness the young men to open-up and engage deeply with these crucial topics.

Witnessing the progress of the young men was a testament to the significant impact that Voices Corp., are making. We are profoundly grateful to both Voices Corp. and Monisha Mitchell for their contributions. This photo captures the essence of collaboration and its role in fostering positive change and personal growth. The journey these young men are undertaking—learning to recognize their worth and heal from past traumas—demonstrates the vital importance of community support. Together, we are changing lives #OneLifeAtATime.

During the "One Life @ A Time" six-week focus groups, Donielle Martin, CEO & Founder of One Life @ A Time, INC., delivered an impactful session on the crucial topic of "Advocacy." The series aimed to help the young men understand the importance of self-advocacy and explore effective strategies for advocating for themselves.

Donielle Martin addressed key questions such as:

  • "Do you know how to advocate for yourself?" This question was designed to assess the young men’s current understanding and skills in self-advocacy.

  • "Why is advocacy important?" Donielle emphasized the significance of standing up for oneself in various areas of life, including personal, academic, and professional settings.

  • "How do you learn how to advocate for yourself?" This focused on practical strategies and skills for self-advocacy, including communication techniques, understanding one’s rights, and seeking support when necessary.

Donielle’s insights were pivotal in helping the young men recognize the power of their voices and necessity of self-advocacy, equipping them with the tools needed to effectively assert their needs and rights. The ultimate goals were to help the young men understand #OneLife@ATime, they too can change the narrative.

During the One Life @ A Time six-week focus group, The Day Reporting Boys with Voices Corp., had the exceptional opportunity to engage with veterinarians at Indy Humane and understand how to care for pets.

The collaboration between One Life @ A Time, CEDO Michael Futch, and CEO Donna Cosomento has proven to be incredibly impactful and holds the promise of expanding beyond our imagination.

This experience has significantly broadened the horizons of these young men. As we’ve observed, “Pets can bring the joy of coming home to a loyal companion. The unconditional love of a pet can do more than keep you company; they will love you too.” Together, we are making meaningful strides to change the narrative #OneLife@ATime.
